Recent tax reform legislation lowered the backup withholding tax rate to 24 percent and the withholding rate that usually applies to bonuses and other supplemental wages to 22 percent.

In 2018, supplemental wages and backup withholding rates changed, too. Withholding on supplemental wages fell from 25% in 2017 to 22% in 2018. The backup withholding rate fell from 28% in 2017 to the updated 24%. How do these rates compare in 2020?
